EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Wyclef Jean Responds to Lauryn Hill Baby Controversy, Recalls Their “Triangle Affair of Passion”by Seandra Sims (@SeandraSims)
(AllHipHop News) Singer/rapper Wyclef Jean has recently released a new memoir, and in the midst of the book’s promotional tour, he has found himself embroiled in controversy over recent Lauryn Hill allegations.
AllHipHop.com spoke with Jean during an exclusive interview at a signing for his book, Purpose: An Immigrant’s Story, yesterday (September 18) at the 5th Avenue Barnes & Noble bookstore in New York City.
Before the signing event, Jean was eager to address detractors who have questioned the timing of his book’s release, at a time when former Fugees group member, Lauryn Hill, is dealing with significant tax evasion charges from the IRS.
In Purpose, Jean details how, during their meteoric rise as a rapping/singing trio (with group member, Pras), Hill disclosed to him that he was the father of her soon-to-be-born baby. In time, Jean says he found out that her son Zion’s father was actually Rohan Marley, the son of legendary reggae artist, Bob Marley.
“Keep in mind right, everything I told you in the book, someone already knows. So I can’t lie to AllHipHop.com…y’all have pieces of all this information,” said Jean. “[People knew] that, that the first baby, ‘Clef thought that was his baby.’ Remember the cover ofThe Source, Wyclef’s in the middle and what does it say? – ‘Baby Daddy’ on it.
“When it comes to Lauryn Hill, it’s nothing but love in the context of if she needs something, I’m always a phone call away.”
Jean noted that fans are still relentless when it comes to asking about a possible Fugees reunion. When asked if his recent announcement about the long ago baby incident had all but assured that the group from North Jersey would never perform again, he was willing to offer his thoughts:
“For a Fugees fan that’s asking, ‘Yo when y’all did The Score, man, there were undertones going on’, and we have the puzzle pieces for those fans. I still owe them an explanation. And I feel closure now in a sense of, you know, they can’t be like, ‘Yo, is there going to be another Fugee album.’”
“I don’t want the base of my book to be based on my triangle affair of passion with Lauryn, but it’s cool. If we got to get past that to get to that you read the story of an immigrant, of a kid coming from a hut, and how I made it to America, it’s all part of the book.”

EXCLUSIVE: Kanye’s Lawyer Says Sex Tape “Stolen”; Demands Take Down of Imagesby Nolan Strong and Grouchy Greg Watkins
(AllHipHop News) A law firm representing rapper Kanye West has issued a takedown notice, surrounding controversial images stemming from a sex tape being shopped to various media outlets, from an anonymous source.
A lawyer for Kanye West issued the demand today (September 23), claiming the sex tape in question was “stolen” from Kanye’s computer.
“Be advised that the Screen Shot, as well as the Tape from which the Screen Shot was taken, were illegally obtained and believed to have been stolen from Mr. West’s computer,” Kanye’s lawyer Lisa M. Buckley of Pryor Cashman said in a legal document sent to AllHipHop.com.
“Your posting, advertising, marketing, displaying and otherwise disseminating the stolen Screen Shot and/or other materials on the Tape constitute actionable violations of Mr. West’s rights of privacy and publicity,” Buckley said.
Buckley warned a variety of media outlets against posting the images from the Kanye sex tape, or there could be serious legal percussions.
“We hereby demand that you: (1) immediately cease and desist from posting, advertising, marketing, displaying and disseminating the illegally obtained Screen Shot of Mr. West,” the notice reads.
Kanye West’s lawyer is also seeking information on who is shopping the tape to various media outlets, since the tape is in high demand.
Sex.com has already offered $1 million to the anonymous person.
Vivid Video’s honcho Steve Hirsch , who released Kim Kardashian’s original sex tape with Ray J., said that Kanye’s could be the most valuable sex tape ever sold on the market.
“It depends on the quality of the tape, the length, the lighting, the sex,” Hirsch said. “But something like this could go for a couple of million dollars. I don’t think there has ever been a sex tape with a star of this magnitude. Tommy Lee was big, but this is a different world and Kanye is a special guy. He’s everywhere.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: Meek Mill And Roc Nation Beefing Already?!by Sydney Lace
MMG rapper Meek Mill just signed a management deal with Roc Nation in May, and it looks like there may already be trouble in paradise. Although Roc Nation has just scored Meek a lucrative endorsement deal with Skull Candy, the rapper blasted the management company on his Twitter account, calling them “dumb.”
Meek’s beef with Roc Nation stems from a performance at a nightclub he was booked for in Brooklyn. We hear security was not up to par, and although Meek was in the venue, he was forced to forfeit his performance.
Instead of being upset with the club, Meek lashed out at his management company over Twitter. As you know, Roc Nation is owned and operated by Jay-Z. I wonder how he feels about Meek Mill essentially calling him a “dumb ass?”

The New Jersey XperienceSitting in the offices of Redemption Arts and Music located on the bottom level of 610 Newark Avenue in Jersey City are the creators and cast of the New Jersey Xperience movie. This place, I would consider, would be the ideal place for any type of artist. It is decorated in beautiful artwork, music, the clothing line “ECM”, books, DVD’s, a professional recording studio and much more. “Everyday there is work to be done and we all here just play our part.” seems to be the key to keeping their business running smoothly. “People come here to pay for a service but the best thing they can get from here is free, it is The Formula.” After years of being involved in music, this team of men have ventured off into another form of the entertainment business. They are a couple of weeks away from premiering their new film “New Jersey Xperience” in Hudson Mall Cinemas on May 11th2011. NJX started out as an album recorded by The Heat and Main Gotti, done to pay homage to the artist that paved the way from New Jersey. Now it’s a movie starring, co-wrote and co-directed by these same young men. I sat down to talk with the Crisis who plays Snatch from the cast of New Jersey Xperience and from what I hear this is only the beginning. Cyph: WHATS THE MOVIE ABOUT? Crisis: New Jersey Xperience is loosely based on the life and the actions of our group, The Heat, and the struggles to get into the entertainment business. The main character in the story is Jamal but he goes by the name Heat and he is played by the star of the movie Maine Gotti. The story is going to show his struggles and how he tries to get into the business and how he dealt with adversities. Heat is going to through a lot of things but he decides to just push through it all to achieve his goal. Cyph: WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO SHOOT YOUR FIRST MOVIE? Crisis: It was cool, we weren’t even expecting to shoot it. Every year our good friend Benedikt Burth from Bottom Up Records in Germany, he comes to visit once a year to do a project. Normally we shoot a music video but this year he said lets forget the video and lets shoot a movie. I’m a keep it real, right away I was like naw lets not waste our time because its going to take a long time, we only got a few days with Benedikt. So I was like if we going to do this lets make sure we got everything we need but I was still doubting it a little bit. Gotti was definitely pushing for it and told us it could happen, whatever we want to do we could definitely do. I never short stepped so I thought it was to much for the time that he (Benedikt) was here. We started shooting and had the whole movie shot in three days, a couple of days after that it was done and on the plane to Germany, actually its there right now. That was a huge experience and I know its going to make a great story in the future, I loved it. |
Cyph: WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT FROM THE MOVIE
Crisis: Definitely to bring Jersey City, no the whole New Jersey back into the light for the other world because its a lot of talent over here in the state New Jersey. This movie will definitely bring the spotlight back to New Jersey making it easy for other artist, anybody, painters, or whatever art that you do we could just broadcast it on a wider scale, you know worldwide. Cyph: WHAT’S THE MOTIVATION BEHIND THE MOVIE Crisis: The motivation for this movie is basically like I said on the last question, we just want to take New Jersey and be seen on a broader scale , you know to the world. We definitely want to big up and showcase a lot of the talent in Jersey so that’s the motivation behind that; to showcase the talent in Jersey. Cyph: HOW DOES IT FEEL TO MAKE HISTORY WITH THE PREMIER AT HUDSON MALL? Crisis: It feels great, because a lot of people don’t know that the actual artist that made the music for the New Jersey Xperience that stared in the movie, co wrote and co directed the movie, they are the actual people putting this together with the mall management. We having the meetings with mall management and the movie theater we are all hands on with this. This is definitely a big thing and its going to make history, It’s never been done, I never seen it done before the way we do it especially at a budget of zero, zero dollars. The stuff that your going to see with the New Jersey Xperience was done with absolutely no money what’s so ever. Its definitely going to be able to show the people who do have the checks that, “This is what they do with nothing imagine if we give them something.” So this is definitely going to be history right here, just to do it this big coming from just an idea, feel me. Cyph: WHAT NEXT FROM 81, CONGLOMAROT, AND SAY CHEESE? Crisis: What’s next, you know we always knows what’s next, we always keep that. Like when we came up with the idea for the New Jersey Xperience the next day we was working on what was next after that. So for right now I’m going to give you a little briefing, I don’t want to talk about it too much but we working on a sitcom. I would drop the name on yall but it’s at the beginning stages right now and I don’t want to talk about it to much because a lot of stuff get bit, Hint, Hint “ECM” Hint, Hint. That’s the new thing right now we doing a sitcom, crazy funny, crazy, crazy funny reality type of situations you going to see on this new sitcom, but we could talk about it later. Deacon DMX?by illseed (@illseed)
According to rumors, DMX has gone and become a Deacon at a church! Now, this is just a rumor report, but I’m not sure I believe it. Why? Becoming a deacon is serious business and its not easy. I know people that have tried and are still working on it. So, could a hardcore, Henny-drinkin, Drake-hatin’ rapper be a deacon? I’m not sure. But, they are saying that the church that gave him this appointment is the same church he grew up in. DMX told AllHipHop that he’s going to one day give himself to the church, but not in a Ma$e way. He won’t be flipping back and forth between Hip-Hop and the church. He will be the church or bust! Meet me outside…THE CHURCH!!!!
By the way, DMX just released a new album story by illseed (@illseed) via allhiphop.com

Hip-Hop Rumors: Mariah Carey And Nicki Minaj Already Beefing On American Idol!!!!
This is like an old fashioned show down from the Cowboys Days. Mariah vs Nicki. It would seem that the good folks over there at TMZ have sources that reveal that these two are fighting. Now they aren’t actually throwing blows. But, the show is in the earliest stages of voting and they are clashing as they are evaluating singers/performers. So, for example, Nicki may be talking to a contestant and Mariah will cut her off and essentially disrespect the rapper.
I don’t think Nicki wants Nicki Cannon to jump in the fray like he did when Eminem stepped out of line!

I JUST HEARD BET Reportedly Set To End Its 12-Year Run of “106 & Park” Next Week
UPDATE: According to a more recent tweet by 106 & Park tonight (September 19), the show will not end, but will introduce its new hosts on October 1. The show also plans to pay tribute to hosts, Rocsi Diaz and Terrence J.
(AllHipHop News) After a 12-year stint on BET, the popular “106 & Park” show is reportedly set to end.
The announcement will likely come as a surprise to many, as the show recently launched a search for two new hosts to replace current hosts Rocsi Diaz and Terrence J.
According to Hip Hop Wired, the show made the announcement on Twitter today (September 19) via a message that was later deleted.
“We sadly announce that on September 28th, 2012, we will air our last episode,” the deleted tweet stated. There is no word if the deleted tweet signals a decision to hold off on the announcement for now.
Since 2000, BET’s “106 & Park” has been a mainstay in daily urban entertainment, attracting a mostly teen to young adult audience, and helping to launch the careers of previous hosts, AJ and Free. STORY BY by Seandra Sims (@SeandraSims) September 19th, 2012 @ 9:34pm via allhiphop.com
